Lawyers who work with creators
A short, honest list. If you're about to sign something material, a lawyer who has read a hundred of these will spot in ten minutes what took our software eighteen rules to approximate.
We haven't listed anyone yet.
We'd rather show you an empty page than pad it out with names we can't stand behind. If you know a lawyer who genuinely understands creator contracts — or you are one — tell us and we'll look at adding them. No payment involved in either direction.
Suggest a lawyerWhat to bring them
A lawyer's time is expensive and most of it gets spent on things you can prepare in advance. Before the meeting:
- Run the free review first and bring the report. It tells them which clauses to look at rather than making them find them. It takes a minute.
- Bring the whole document, including schedules and anything referenced but attached separately.
- Write down what you actually want. "Is this fair?" is a much more expensive question than "can I get the term down to 12 months and the IP clause removed?"
- Know your numbers. What you earn, what the commission would cost you annually. Work it out here.
- Ask for a flat fee for a contract review. Many will quote one, and it saves an open-ended hourly meter.
